As you venture into the warm and cozy tavern, you see men and women alike gathered around a warm fire in the corner. They all seem to be listening intently to the story of a weary old man. You walk over to the counter, leaning over you whisper as to not disrupt the story, "What's going on over there?" The woman behind the counter gives you a smile, "Ah, well things used to be much different around here long ago. There were people from far away who came here from far away. That man over there, Elder Layne, is telling the story of that time. Why don't you go on over, and listen it's quite a fascinating story.
You move over and work your way into the crowd, finding an empty chair you lean back and begin to listen. The man's words flow so vividly you close your eyes to envision the story. The story goes on and on for what would seem to be hours, you can see the different creatures that came from far away, and the madness that soon errupted after their arrival. It's quite confusing though, as they look much like the people that are sitting around you at the very moment. The story is quite disturbing, and it tells of how the current civilization came into being. After a very long time of none of the races trusting each other, apparently somehow the differences had been set aside. You can only imagine what it must have been like to live back then, with people stealing or taking claim to whatever they could to survive.
After the story, you realize its late, you decide it best to ask for a room for the night. Upon arrival of your room, everything looks quite calm and relaxing. You move to the bed and get ready for the night, though as you close your eyes, your mind begins to drift. You can't help but wonder, would the world ever errupt into that same chaos? Would you be able to survive.
